Emergency Medical Services Patches

The BC Ambulance Service was formed on July 4, 1974 when the provincial government bought out the independant services and amalgamated them into one provincial body. Previous to this ambulance services were provided to municipalities by a mix of volunteer brigades, funeral homes, fire departments and private contractors.

This ambulance service has been part of the CRHA and was responsible for patient transfers from hospital to hospital.

Disbanded and absorbed into the Alberta Health Services agency initiated in 2009. All Alberta Health regions were disbanded and re-aligned with this provincially mandated agency along with all ambulance services within the province. The absorbed services wore their respective patches until 2010, with ambulance slowly be changed to the new provincial livery. Ambulances province wide already in service had the name of the communities they had been employed by removed, but the liveries remained until the respective vehicle were replaced within the fleet.
